Harvey entertains the April Sound Ladies Association

Linda Harvey entertained at the March luncheon of the April Sound Ladies Association as “Susie Q” a cute little redheaded girl. How a charming adult took on the persona of a young child is an interesting story.
Linda’s son was in the hospital for a prolonged period. While visiting him, she realized how long the days were for the children and developed Susie Q to entertain them. Her son is grown now, but she still appears as Susie Q at the Texas Opry in Magnolia and for other events. She stepped out of the child’s character long enough to sing in her own voice and she is a knockout.
Susie Q made a two and a half hour trip from Santa Fe, Texas to appear. The dialog exchanged between her and Karin Hughes brought many laughs.
The newly formed April Sound Men’s Club is growing fast. For the March luncheon 72 men were present, and the membership has grown to 78. County Judge Alan B. Sadler was guest speaker, and he updated the men on what is happening around the county. He fielded questions during a 20-minute Q&A period.

The special interest groups are growing. Fifteen men met with Howard Needles in the Genealogy Section of the Central Library in Conroe for a briefing on starting a search. Barbara Franz, who heads the department, explained about all of the resources available. When you think of tourists attractions in the Greater Conroe area, you think of lake facilities and fishing, but actually the Genealogy section of the library ranks high in bringing visitors to Conroe.
Computer guru, Shannon Roberts met with the men interested in furthering their computer knowledge. He anticipates about 30 in this group and is searching for a place with enough computers to have hands on sessions, although it may be necessary to divide the group. The men are saving up their tough questions for him.
The men meet the fourth Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in the Driftwood Room. Dr. Patrick E. Nolan, Director of the Sam Houston Museum in Huntsville, will be the speaker on April 25.
Don Rashke is playing the part of Finache in “A Flea in Her Ear” which is currently on stage weekends at the Crighton Theater. A number of April Sounders are heading to the theater to see him on stage.
