April Sound Ladies Association Showing Off
Fall fashions took to the runway during the September meeting of the April Sound Ladies Association. Modeling were Desiree Blache, Miriam Gillory, Libby Rascoe, Betty Bashen, Karin Hughes, Pat Whitman, Billie Cole and Ann Marsau. All of the outfits were from Unique Boutique, owned by Nina Gentry, and she moderated the show.
Nina knows we have refined shopping down to an art, so she brought along accessories like belts, purses and jewelry to match all the ensembles. And she brought several racks of clothes and tables of accessories for the ladies who wanted to continue the fashion spree by selecting some fall outfits.
The meeting was an extra special one because it was also a baby shower for Paul and Linda Belcher and their new daughter Emma Grace, who arrived a little early weighing only 3-1/2 pounds. Paul is the much-appreciated manager of the April Sound Country Club, and the shower was our way of telling him how much we treasure him and his family.
Chef Stewart created a special menu for the luncheon, with a spinach and lettuce salad trimmed with mandarin oranges, shaved onion and pecans, followed by beef tenderloin tips over pasta. The dessert was a real winner--a white chocolate cake that tasted like cheesecake.
April Sound celebrated a 30th birthday with two days of parties given by the April Sound Country Club for all of the members and those were very well attended. Kudos go to Paul Belcher and all of the club staff.
Six April Sounders are back from a two weeks Viking riverboat cruise encompassing Amsterdam, Germany and Vienna. The intrepid travelers even joined part of the tour group who were from Walden and made a one-day trip to explore Budapest. Bob and Mary Feldman, Jackie and Raleigh Barker, Luise Long and Jean Williams all say a river boat is the way to go, because they dock at a town and most excursions can be made by walking or a short bus ride. For Luise it was a sentimental journey because she was born in Germany near Wiesbaden and spent her childhood there. |
