APRIL SOUND UPBEAT By JJB
Silks and Twigs presented the September program for the April Sound Ladies Association and it was a winner. Designers from the shop in Conroe made arrangements for all the tables. Elizabeth Leary came with a carload of arrangements and accessories to show us how to decorate for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but she only left with about half of them. ASLA members were buying them off of the display before she left. Elizabeth brought several wreaths and arrangements that could be used for Fall through the holidays with the addition of a few seasonal touches. She said that purple would be a big color for this holiday season and showed several arrangements that combined purple and burgundy quite harmoniously. Of course red and green will always be Christmas favorites she told us. Our October program is a much anticipated one. It is what we call April Sound Trade Days. Members have been creating items to sell and the Lodge Room will be filled with their booths. Charlene Long has been stitching up needlepoint designs to sell, Linda Shields is using Swarvoski crystal beads to make red, white and blue bracelets and Jo Ann Rascoe is making some large wreaths. Karen Hughes is famous for jalapeno jelly so she is canning several batches of it to sell. Rosemary Shields is painting note cards for her booth. All that traffic pulling out of April Sound recently and heading east was to attend the Montgomery Choral Society dinner and show at First United Methodist Church in Conroe. Singing with the choir from April Sound were Ann Marie Ricci, Carolyn Wohlt, Betty Bashen, Wayne Hickman, Ruth Cant, Marilyn Sponheimer, Pam Sproull and Ann Marsau. Speaking of traffic out of April Sound there is a steady stream on Monday nights heading west on 105. A Weight Watcher class has opened up in Montgomery for two sessions on Monday and a number of April Sounders are there counting their points. We should all have a slimmed down look for upcoming holiday parties. |
