Ruby Shelton celebrated her 90th birthday
Ruby Shelton celebrated her 90th birthday in grand style. Daughter Marvell Finch, who is well known for her organizational skills, planned a weekend family reunion so everyone could join Ruby in the celebration.
Her sister Juanita flew in from Indiana and family members came from Oklahoma and all over Texas for the occasion. In all there were 48 nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews joining the party, along with immediate family.
To accommodate the whole crowd, Marvell reserved the Park Center Room in the POA building, and everyone enjoyed a barbecue meal and birthday cake.
Many of the guests stayed at Villas on the Lake nearby, and came back to Gene and Marvell Finch’s home to eat leftover barbecue one evening and for breakfast the next day.
Happy birthday to Ruby, and we hope Marvell can top that party on your 100th birthday.
New members of the April Sound Ladies Association were welcomed at a brunch on Halloween, with co-membership Vice-President Karin Hughes as hostess. Members of the board all brought potluck dishes, so there was a lot of good eating going on while everyone got acquainted.
The Ladies Association Dinner Group held a Halloween party at the April Sound Country Club. Delores and Lester Ubanoski took the prize for the best costume. Guests put a lot of imagination into their costumes.
Now we are all thawing the turkey for Thanksgiving and gearing up for the holidays. April Sound Church is having an Advent party on December 1, when the youth in the church will join with adults to create advent wreaths and make angels, followed by a chili supper, hayride and caroling. Those who want to do their caroling inside will be entertained by a group of singers from Bentwater. Guests are always welcome at April Sound Church activities. |
