April Sound
walks away with top honors at Art League competition
April Sound artists walked away with some top honors at the recent Conroe Art League competition and show in the Atrium Lobby of the Medical Center Hospital.
Lucy Lewis won a blue ribbon and the “Best Floral” awards for her watercolor entitled “White Iris.” Lucy competes in the professional category and is a widely known art teacher.
Joanne Quinn, competing in the professional category, won a blue ribbon for her oil painting entitled “Tea Party.” It was a charming picture of her two grandchildren enjoying a pretend tea party.
Doris Wright took a blue ribbon in the non-professional category for her oil painting “Sunset,” which depicted a mounted cowboy against the backdrop of a pastoral scene.
Mary Devine received three honorable mentions, and Joyce Beckwith two honorable mentions. Doris Wright received an honorable mention for a second painting she entered in the competition.
Congratulations to these five winners.
The Lions Club is working on their 9th Annual Toys for Tots Tennis Tournament at the April Sound Tennis Center. The Lions Club is providing a continental breakfast and a tee shirt. Outback Steak House is donating lunch.
The entry fee is $25 and entry forms are available by calling Adrian Bey, tennis director, at 936-588-1101 or co-chairs Shirley and Chuck Rothwell at 936-588-6977.
Last year the Lions Club donated 680 toys to nine agencies in Montgomery County. That made a lot of little kids happy.
