The Notables

April Sound Ladies Association
By JJB
The April Sound Ladies Association special interest groups visit far and wide, adding to their knowledge of favorite subjects. The Antique Collectors joined with the Home Decorating group to visit the Woodlands Treasure Hunt on FM 2978. The newly opened cooperative mall had everything from shabby chic furniture to Spanish shawls. Several members of the coop spoke about their specialties.
The Tuesday morning painters made a trip into Houston to visit the exhibit of Impressionist paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts. They enjoyed seeing and discussing works by Monet, Renoir, Corot, Van Gogh and Degas.
The Notables, good will ambassadors for the Montgomery County Choral Society, entertained for the ASLA November luncheon. Our own Betty Bashen is a member and she does us proud. The Notables sing for civic groups and in nursing homes around the county, and are a delight with their special close harmony. Mable Edith Oliver moved to the piano bench to accompany them for some of the numbers.
ASLA members took 180 names for the Salvation Army wish tree program and asked for more. We have all been out shopping to bring Christmas to someone served by the Salvation Army, and many members took several names. Helping bring Christmas to someone who would not otherwise be remembered makes it worth getting into all the Christmas crowds and traffic. |
