April Sound UpBeat
April Sound Ladies Association members got an overview of fashion from the mid-1800's to the early 1900's when Mary Sue Timmerman of Montgomery shared some her vintage clothing collection. Models from April Sound were Pat Whitman, Doris Johnson, Rosemary Shields, Marvelle Finch, Karen Olsen, Stacy Smith, Dolores Power and Barbara Durbin. Models from Montgomery were Jenny Stewart, Frances Peel, Shirley Peel, Stacy Knight and Lauren Gibson.
Eulice Vial played background music on her harp which everyone agreed added a touch of elegance to the show. Seeing part of Mary Sue’s collection was a rare treat, because of their fragileness the costumes can’t be worn often. Mary Sue and her husband Don belong to a Model A Ford Club and Mary Sue has an outfit she wears to road rallies, collected with a careful eye to authenticity for the period. In another highlight of the meeting Luine Hancock was honored for her year as president of ASLA and given two gifts--a Lennon China home which opened up to reveal furniture and a Thomas Kinkade plate. Sue Holladay takes over the duties as president for our February meeting.
