April Sound UpBeat
Judy Bosma’s 10-year old granddaughter Megan spent her spring break in April Sound. When Judy asked her what she would like to do she sad she wanted a tea party. With none of Megan’s peers close by Judy decided to do the next best thing and invite some of her April Sound friends who had met Megan. So she served a high tea on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Guests arrived to a candlelit house and soft lights with classical music in the background. Megan served them tea from three special teapots, a brown crock pot inherited from her great grandmother from Germany, a beautiful porcelain teapot sent by her Great Aunt Martha Bosma from Indianapolis and Judy’s silver teapot.
The menu was quite appropriate for high tea with scones that were baked fresh that morning, served with special preserves. A glass pedestal cake stand from England was adorned with a lemon glazed cake. Cream puffs were served from a depression glass piece which was another family heirloom. The menu was completed with tiny tea sandwiches, petite quiche and party spirals. Attending the high tea were Gerry Rye, Marvelle Finch, Karin Hughes, Rosemary Shields, Charlene Long, Mary Devine, Great Aunt Sue Askins and Joan Edwards. They all said Megan’s high tea was an afternoon to remember. Bob Quinn, author of "Damon" based loosely on his experiences as an underage Navel seaman in World War II, will be at Barnes and Nobles in The Woodlands for a book signing and discussion 7 p.m., Saturday, April 7. When Ruth Cant and Bill Cant were making plans for their 50th wedding anniversary they decided to pass up the traditional glitzy party and instead opted for a family get together on a ranch in Bandera. All of their children and grandchildren were there and enjoyed a week of horseback riding, swimming, hiking and campfires. Congratulations Ruth and Bill. |
