APRIL SOUND UPBEAT
Hats were the order of the day for the April luncheon of the April Sound Ladies Association. The Lakeside Room was decorated like a garden, and the tables had centerpieces of bird houses and Texana furnished by shop owners in the Olde School House in Montgomery.
Fashions from the Olde School House were presented by Jackie Reese and modeled by Betty Bashen, Betty Chandler, Beverly Cox, Nancy Gray, Kerri Grubbs, Dee Huggins, Jan McDonald, Terry Roddy and Phyllis McNamara. Kathy Hayman did the makeup for the models. M. E. Oliver was at the piano. Even the menu had a garden party theme, with vichyssoise, chicken salad and fresh fruit, with petit fours for dessert. Wearing hats brought out a lot of creativity among the members. Phyllis McNamara, Charlene Long and Ann Watt won awards, and many others also got "oohs" and "ahs." Sharon Reinhardt wore a vintage hat trimmed with peacock feathers and carried out the theme by wearing a duster with a hand painted peacock portrayed on the back. It's going to be hard to top that luncheon, but program chairman Marvelle Finch is going to try. She has invited Jane Galvez, owner of our florist shops, to speak for the May luncheon. She will show how to decorate with fresh flowers. As a bonus she is also doing the table centerpieces with fresh flowers. |
