SPECIAL OLYMPICS MARCH 27TH

Mark your calendar for Saturday March 27th and plan to attend the track event of the Special Olympics at the Montgomery Junior High. Events begin at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend to cheer for the children or give a hug to a contestant after a race.
The Cape Conroe Ladies' Society members met the athletes from Montgomery's Special Olympics team at the Nike Factory where they purchased shoes for the six boys and one girl who will be competing this year. Special thanks to the manager Laura for her dedication to the children as she and her staff make sure the shoes are properly fitted to each child. Thanks to the Ladies Society for their participation in purchasing the shoes.
Happy 61st Birthday wishes to Johnny Nikirk. Johnny and his wife, Sandy, attended a performance of the Walden Follies with family and friends to celebrate his birthday. Joining the celebration were Sandy's daughter and soninlaw, Tina and Chuck Racca, her sister, Cheri Blade, and friends Paul and Darlynn Pittman, and Joe and Kathleen James. The group enjoyed a great dinner and seeing the Walden Follies for the first time.
Happy Birthday wishes to Dorotha Guinn. Dorotha celebrated her birthday with her family. Dorotha's mother, Ruth Zwimpfer, aunt Rosie Besch, and uncle Merle Rorax met her daughters and son and their families at the Fuddrucker's Restaurant on FM 1960. Everyone enjoyed good food; birthday cake and the kids loved playing the arcade games while the adults visited.
Milton and Jane Laake's granddaughter, Darby Ringo, spent a few days with them last week while she was on spring break from school. They went out to eat twice and went shopping. Granddaughter Amber Neels joined Darby and Jane for a fun afternoon at the Cape Conroe Park.
Got the urge to clean out your closets? The Cape Conroe Ladies' Society Annual Garage/Yard Sale is April 23rd and 24th. Contact Jane Laake at 9364481092 or Marty Sanford at 9364486917 to donate your items. The wonderful cooks of the Ladies Society will also be donating items for a Bake Sale. Plan to attend to purchase delicious cakes, pies and cookies. Proceeds from the yard and bake sale go to local community service organizations.
My husband, Dick, is home again from a visit in Conroe Regional Medical Center. I want to take this opportunity to thank the staff in the emergency room, various units he has been on recently, ancillary departments and the doctors who treated him for their professionalism, caring attitude and attentiveness to his wants and needs.
Until next week take care, be safe and give someone a hug! Have a Great Week!
