CONGRATULATIONS LORI SANFORD

Dick and I had the honor and privilege of attending the graduation of his daughter, Lori Sanford, from Sam Houston State University last weekend. She graduated Magma Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Management Information Systems. Former Secretary of State James Baker III gave an informative and amusing commencement speech.
Following the graduation ceremony, we hosted a luncheon for Lori at the Steak and Ale in Conroe. Attending the graduation and the luncheon from our family was Karen Nixon, Richard and Zachary Sanford, and friends, Kenny Simmons, Chuck and Linda Simmons, Peggy Petty, Sheryl and Becky Brown, Summer Ruocco, Monica Deleon and John.
Lori, we are very proud of you!
George and Carolyn Abney recently returned from Natchez, Mississippi where they attended the Spring Pilgrimage of Antebellum Homes. According to Carolyn, the homes and grounds were magnificent. Friends Howard and Phyllis Rozell and Jimmy and Katy Smith accompanied them on the trip. The couples had a wonderful dinner at the 'Cock of the Walk' Restaurant; which overlooks the Mississippi River.
The group toured the Civil War Cemetery in Vicksburg, Mississippi. George, Carolyn and their friends, in addition to sight seeing in Natchez and Vicksburg, exchanged a few coins on the riverboats!
Dorotha Guinn hosted a Mother's Day luncheon at her home for twentytwo relatives. Dorotha's daughter, Lee Ann Sowders, was surprised when her daughter, Rachael, came home for Mother's Day from Washington, D.C. Rachael will graduate from Texas A & M in August. Her brother Jacob is currently in the Army Reserves at Texas A & M.
Dorotha Guinn attended a church lectureship in Visalia, California. She heard twenty interesting and inspiring speakers in the four days of the conference. Dorotha went on a tour of the Sequoia National Park where she saw the magnificent sequoia trees. Dorotha also had a good time visiting with a cousin and aunt who live in the area.
Congratulations to Bill and Shelly Bucks on winning the 'Yard of the Month' for May. Contact Peri Beall, Chairman of Community Relations Committee for nominations for yard of the month.
Until next week take care, be safe and give someone a hug! Have a Great Week!
