Summer Vacation Trips
Art and Cile Murray recently returned from several summer trips. They attended Cile's family reunion in Pensacola, Florida. Attending the first Kreppein family reunion in twenty years were twentyfive adults and six children. The family reserved a conference room for two days of visiting, laughing and catching up on each other's lives. Art and Cile took time to relax in the swimming pool at the hotel.
The Murrays next traveled to Oklahoma City where they attended a bridal shower for their granddaughter, Sharon Vanek. They spent a few days in New Orleans visiting Cile's cousin and family.
Art and Cile met their second great granddaughter in Austin. Parker Lynn Bradley was only a few days old when they visited. Cile told me that the baby smiled all the time, and she was sure it was not just gas! The proud parents are their granddaughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Clint Bradley,
Upon their return to the Houston area, Cile attended another bridal shower for Sharon Vanek. She had a great time with Sharon's friends.
The Murrays left their dogs at the Pet Resort during their travels. They were very pleased with the care the dogs received from Pat and Kristie Coyne.
Gilma Mauch and her daughters, Jacque Kohler and Stacey Kanzler, recently returned from Quito, Ecuador. Quito known as "the middle of the earth" is the second highest capitol in the world at 9,184 feet above sea level.
The ladies visited the Monument of the Equator where they had one foot in the northern hemisphere and one foot in the southern hemisphere. They received a certificate for balancing an egg on the end of a nail. A guide used two leaves in water to demonstrate that at the equator water drains straight down, three feet on the northern hemisphere water drains in a counter clockwise motion, and three feet in the southern hemisphere water will drain in a clockwise motion.
Gilma, Jacque and Stacey also toured the Cotopaxi National Park where they saw the highest active volcano; which is 19,347 feet above sea level. They went up high enough to see the lake on the volcano with several small islands in it.
They visited the National Basilica a beautiful cathedral. At the Panama Hat Factory each of the ladies purchased a panama hat after watching them being made. Gilma and her daughters enjoyed shopping at the Indian Markets and looking at the beautiful leather goods and native arts and crafts. They ate in several authentic cuisine restaurants in the area.
Gilma told me that the different regions in the area range from desert with cactus to tropical and subtropical with lush green plants. The temperatures stayed around 82 degrees during the day and at night.
The ladies stayed in the Marriott Quito where the Miss Universe contestants had stayed the week before.
Eleven members of the Cape Conroe Ladies' Society attended the Birthday Lunch last week at the Bluebonnet and Rose Restaurant. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and looking at the beautiful grounds and building. June birthday honoree Gilma Mauch attended.
Until next week take care, be safe and give someone a hug! Have a Great Week!
