Welcome Home Paul Moore!
David and Julia Moore hosted a Welcome Home celebration for their son, Paul, who spent the last fifteen months in Iraq. Paul, 29, arrived at Fort Polk on July 8th. The Specialist E4 divided his tour in Iraq between Maintenance on army trucks and tanks and standing guard duty. Paul has one year remaining on his tour of duty with the army.
Attending the family celebration were David and Julia's daughters, Carrie, Tammy and LeAnn. The sisters had a great time with their 'little brother' over the weekend.
Skip and Ann Lambert hosted a family celebration in honor of their grandson, Christopher Dowell last weekend. Christopher, a U.S. Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, introduced his fianc1e, Jackie Campbell to the family. Christopher and Jackie plan to marry in September of 2005 after Christopher returns from a tour overseas and Jackie graduates from college.
The family enjoyed the BarBQue dinner with all the trimmings, boating and swimming on the lake. Attending the celebration were Chris and Carmen Dowell and Tyler, 14, and Katie Beth, 2. Kelly and Shannon Dowell and Patrick, 7, and Drew, 5, came from Austin. Dorothy Glauser, Vickie Lambert, Chris and Debbie Tritico and Maria, 15, and Alyssa, 13, and Christopher, 9. Ronnie and Donna Lambert and Kelsey, 7, and Mallory, 5.
Happy Birthday wishes to Anita Marchione. Anita and her husband, Frank, enjoyed a family dinner at Hyden's Steak and Seafood Restaurant to celebrate the occasion. Fifteen members of their family attended the dinner.
Frank and Anita also enjoyed the Fourth of July holiday with their children and grandchildren.
Happy Birthday wishes to Bettye Weekley. Bettye and her husband George quietly celebrated her birthday last week. George is home recovering from his recent surgeries.
Wayne and Lynn Coffman recently returned from a road trip through Germany and a cruise through the Czech Republic. They flew from Houston to Amsterdam, Holland. Their first stop was in Delft, Holland where porcelain and china are made. The Coffmans saw many windmills as they drove up north through the Netherlands.
Wayne and Lynn crossed over into Germany at Oldenburg, the home of Wayne's grandmother and mother. Their next stop was in the little village of Vandrup, Denmark where Lynn's grandfather was born. They stayed in a small Inn in Petersdorf, the home of Lynn's grandmother. In Pennemunde, Germany they recalled the historical significance of the space center of Germany.
In Magdenburg, Germany they boarded the boat along with eightyfour other Germans for the cruise up the Elbe River to where it meets the Molcau River in the Czech Republic. During the cruise, they went through several locks, saw the beautiful Czech countryside and toured many historical cities including Prague, Dresden, Monteburg and Whittenburg.
Following the cruise, Wayne and Lynn drove around to Mosel River where they stayed in Bed and Breakfast Inns of villages that are 1400 years old. They drove into Belgium before returning to Amsterdam for the return flight home.
Wayne told me that this was the best cruise they had ever been on, even though no one else on the cruise spoke English. Fortunately, Wayne and Lynn speak German. Their road trip covered 4,000 kilometers, or approximately 2,500 miles.
Until next week take care, be safe and give someone a hug! Have a Great Week!
