Trips To Disney World & The Aquarium
Betty Radcliffe's son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Jodie Radcliffe, and their family recently vacationed in Florida. Keith and Jodie and their sons, Johnathon, James and Robert spent a few days enjoying water sports at Cocoa Beach, Florida. The boys had a great time surfing the waves and playing on skim boards.
Their next stop was in Orlando where they spent a week enjoying Disney World. Jodie told me they spent most of their time in the MGM Theme Park. The entire family loves to ride the Tower of Terror Ride and the Rockin' Roller Coaster Ride. Keith, Jodie, Johnathon, James and Robert were on the Tower of Terror when the elevator stopped for about fifteen minutes. The ride, which features the elevator dropping thirteen floors, was just about to start the decent when the ride stopped. After repairs were quickly completed, they were treated to another ride!
Jodie said their favorite restaurant in the MGM Theme Park is the SciFi Theatre. At the restaurant, designed to look like a drivein movie, you are seated at cars from the 1950s for your table complete with the speaker hanging on the side of the car. The family enjoys watching SciFi thriller movies from the 1950s that play on the large screen under the ceiling that is transformed into a starlight night sky.
Johnathon, James and Robert rated the new Mission to Mars ride at Epcot Center, "Really cool." The only disappointment on the trip was when they discovered that the ride It's a Small World was closed for renovation at the Magic Kingdom.
Keith, Jodie and their sons enjoyed a day at Animal Kingdom Theme Park. They rode the different rides and went on a safari type ride where they saw the animals.
Residents from Cape Conroe joined the Senior Friends in Conroe for a tour of the Houston Aquarium last week. Dorothy Cullison, Rosemarie MacCartney, Jo Ann Shannon, Jane Laake, Evelyn Parzyck and Rose Ann Zolka toured the Aquarium and the exhibits.
The group rode the train ride named the Shark Voyage that took them around the Aquarium. As it stopped under a large tank filled with sharks, barracuda and other fish, the tour guide told about the various fish in the tank. Other rides enjoyed by the group were the Ferris wheel and the carousel. Jane and Evelyn were the only ones brave enough to ride the Tower Drop ride.
At the Aquarium Restaurant, the group enjoyed a seafood lunch. Rose Ann told me that the generous servings were as delicious as they were pretty.
Senior Friends is open to anyone who is at least fiftyyearsold. The group arranges day trips to interesting sights around Houston plus trips to fun places in the United States and overseas locations at very reasonable rates. Senior Friends also sponsors luncheons at Conroe Regional Medical Center with informative speakers. Contact the Senior Friends office at 9365397094 for more information.
Wednesday, August 11th at 7:00 p.m. is the monthly meeting of the Cape Conroe Property Owners' Association Board of Directors. The meetings at the clubhouse are open to all residents of Cape Conroe.
Until next week take care, be safe and give someone a hug! Have a Great Week!
