Happy Birthdays to Bill & Pat Wren

Happy Birthday wishes to Bill and Pat Wren. Their children treated them to dinner at Hyden's Steak and Seafood Restaurant to celebrate their birthdays. Attending the party were their daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Larry Shumate, and daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Todd Dittmann. Grandchildren at the celebration were Spencer and Drew and Drew's friend Katie. The family enjoyed a delicious dinner followed by a beautiful birthday cake.
The Wren's daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Todd, recently attended the Olympics in Athens, Greece. They loved being at the Olympics and fell in love with Greece citing it as very romantic with fabulous food and sights.
Rosemarie MacCartney took Pat Wren to the Bluebonnet and Rose for a birthday lunch celebration. They enjoyed a quiet lunch in the lavish restaurant.
George and Carolyn Abney recently returned from a Caribbean cruise with their son, Stephen, and daughter, Dena. The Abneys treated Stephen and Dena to their first cruise as a celebration of their fortieth birthdays.
The cruise stopped in Costa Maya and Cozumel. They took a catamaran in Cozumel so they could do some snorkeling and playing on the beach. George, Carolyn and their children enjoyed doing lots of shopping.
The cruise departed on Halloween so the group attended a Costume Halloween party on board. George kept jumping out at everyone like a spider, as he was Spiderman. Carolyn was dressed as a female vampire. Stephen went as his favorite character from his childhood -Tigger and Dena was Cruelle DeVille from 101 Dalmatians. A lady friend of Stephens was the Keeper of the Web.
Skip and Ann Lambert and thirty of their friends recently enjoyed their annual birthday celebration trip to Marfa, Texas and the Big Bend area. Among the friends attending from St. Mary's Church in Plantersville was Father Ed Kucera.
Skip and Ann stayed at the Indian Lodge at Fort Davis State Park, while others stayed in the RV Park. The mountain lodge is beautiful to see and wonderful to be outside in the cool clean mountain air.
The group went to the McDonald Observatory for a 'star party.' They saw the lights of Marfa; which date back to the 1800s. There are several theories as to what causes the lights, but no one really knows for sure.
Skip and Ann also toured the Big Bend area. As they drove to Presidio the sights were spectacular from the cactus to the colors of the rock and the rock formations such as Elephant Mountain. They drove along the river road to the basin of Big Bend where they stayed at the Big Bend State Park Lodge. 350 motorcyclists known as the "Friends of Big Bend" joined them at the lodge. The group returns every year to help on different projects. The Lamberts were surprised to learn that Black Bears and Panthers are present in the Big Bend.
Skip and Ann Lambert enjoyed a visit with their friend Dwayne Gates. Dwayne travels the country in his RV visiting family, friends and sight seeing. He pulls a motorcycle and trailer behind for driving around.
The Lambert's grandson, Nick Dowell, has returned from serving his second tour in Iraq. He lives in California with his wife Amber. When his tour of duty is over soon and Amber completes her college studies the couple will move to Wyoming. Nick's brother, Christopher, is currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq. You can learn more about Christopher and Nick by logging onto www.dowellusmc.com and send them your thoughts and prayers.
Congratulations to Ronald and Tami Hartman for Yard of the Month for November. Stop by their lovely yard on Lake View Drive.
Happy November Birthday wishes to Pat Wren, Sandy Nikirk, Betty Jost, Dorothy Cullison and Pat Lasher.
Happy November Anniversary wishes to Lester and Dorotha Ruthstrom, John and Iris Bostick, Johnny and Sandy Nikirk, and to Dick and me.
Until next week -take care, be safe and give someone a hug! Have a Great Week!
