Happy Thanksgiving

Dick and I celebrated an early Thanksgiving with our family last weekend. Our children, Lori, Karen and Bob, and grandchildren, Samantha, Zachary, Matthew and Jamie, enjoyed eating, laughing and being thankful for our many blessings. The reprieve from the rain allowed the boys to run and play outside while the adults were busy cooking and putting the final touches on a Thanksgiving feast.
Ken and Betty Jost recently returned from vacationing on Galveston's West Beach. They enjoyed taking walks on the beach, fishing, playing cards, relaxing and entertaining family and friends. Ken caught a lot of fish while surf fishing, but no big red this year.
Among friends that visited Ken and Betty were Betty's long time friend from high school, Marlys Harder, from Lawrence, Kansas and her daughter, Heidi Connally. Marlys and Heidi loved the fresh shrimp and fish that Ken caught and Betty cooked.
Happy 61st Anniversary wishes to Ken and Betty Jost and Happy Birthday wishes to Betty. They celebrated their anniversary and Betty's birthday while they were in Galveston. The Jost's son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Norma Jost, and grandsons, Michael and Daniel, brought them flowers for their anniversary. Kenneth also came for Betty's birthday and brought her a dozen red roses.
Ken used part of his vacation time to re-write a story about his ship that sank during World War II. Titled "The Last Voyage" the story is about a ship that Ken was stationed aboard on its way to Japan. The minesweeper ship sunk one day after Ken boarded another ship for his return home. The news of the ship sinking reached Betty, but she did not know for two weeks that Ken was not on the ship. Ken, we are looking forward to reading your story.
Congratulations to Desiree Bryant as a winner of one of the beautiful poinsettia plants given in a drawing at Wal-Mart last week. Desiree was surprised and pleased when she got the call she had won. Now her first Christmas decoration is going up to enjoy!
Seventeen members of the Ladies Society enjoyed a delicious lunch at Vernon's Country Catfish Restaurant to celebrate the November birthdays. Birthday honorees attending were Pat Wren and Pat Lasher.
Monday at 1:00 p.m. the Ladies Society will decorate the clubhouse for the holidays.
Until next week -take care, be safe and give someone a hug! Have a Great Week!
