Happy 17th Birthday wishes to our granddaughter Samantha Heathcott. Dick and I attended a party hosted by her parents Dana and Karen Nixon. Thirtyfive family members and friends were present when Samantha's grandparents, Joe and Beverly Jacks, presented her with a car for her birthday. Samantha was astonished and ecstatic at the same time when she saw the red Honda Accord adorned with a bow and balloons sitting in the driveway. Samantha's brothers, Matthew and Jamie, jumped into the back seat for the first ride!
Members and guests of the Senior Friends attended the Houston Symphony last week. The symphony played a variety of Christmas music accompanied by the Houston Children's Choir and Dancers. Rose Ann Zolka and her sister and brotherinlaw Lorena and Bob Stanislaw attended along with Jane Laake, Dorothy Cullison and Jim and Gilma Mauch from Cape Conroe. Everyone agreed the music, songs and dancing was magnificent. Contact Rose Ann for upcoming trips and events with Senior Friends at 9364481485.
Thanks to Judy Graham and The Notables for providing Christmas music for the Cape Conroe Ladies' Society Christmas Luncheon last week. In addition to singing traditional holiday songs they also performed humorous renditions to old favorites. Everyone enjoyed the festive table decorations and desserts from the Cheesecake Factory provided by Grace Wunsch, Betty Gregory, Rose Ann Zolka and Faye Montgomery who were the hostesses. Jane Laake, President, presented the members with gifts and thanks for a great year.
I took part in the Christmas on the Corner hosted by Coldwell Banker United, Realtors last week. Over two hundred children ranging from two months on up visited with Santa and had their picture taken. The children enjoyed receiving a stocking with goodies and homemade cookies.
Jodie Radcliffe hosted a birthday luncheon for me at the Anchor Grill last week followed by cake and ice cream at her home. Attending were Betty Radcliffe, Dorothy Cullison, Lorraine Wyatt and Catherine Woodruff. We had a great time looking at her holiday decorations and her pug dogs.
Please turn on your holiday decorations so the Community Relations Committee can select the winners on Sunday, December 19th.
