Holiday Party at Walden
The Cape Conroe Ladies Society hosted their annual Holiday Dinner Party at Walden Yacht Club. Forty-eight members and guests enjoyed the festive ambiance, a delicious dinner and holiday music. Rose Ann Zolka baked a twelve layer Hungarian Torte cake for dessert. Thanks to Rose Ann who coordinated the arrangements with Jody and Vena and to the staff for their excellent service.
Attending the dinner for the first time were Joann Shannon, Jim and Gilma Mauch and Jim and Exa Carter.
Congratulations to the winners of the Holiday Decorating Contest. The Community Relations Committee had a difficult task to select the final winners. Cape Conroe has many beautifully decorated homes and yards. Best Lighting award went to Rick and Deborah Miller at 207 Lazy Lane. Most Colorful was awarded to Bill and Shelly Bucks at 10806 Windswept. The Sesame Street Scene won the Best Theme for David and Stacey Dickey at 10710 Highpoint. Most Creative went to Keith and Michele Burton at 211 Fantasy. Most Original award went to Julia Moore and her son, Paul for the reindeers peeking over the fence. Julia told the committee members that her son Paul made the Reindeer while he was home on leave from Iraq.
Congratulations to Earl and Barbara Sharp on the opening of Image Resale Shop, located in Western Hills Shopping Center. They are open Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. They will be taking consignments in the Spring.
Betty Laird enjoyed an early Christmas family reunion with her family near Cameron, Texas. Attending the festivities were her sisters and their families including children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Chester and Evelyn Parzyck and Wayne and Lynn Coffman recently returned from a trip to Germany. Wayne and Lynn guided Chester and Evelyn to several points of interest. Their first stop was in Mussbach, a village of one thousand residents, is located seventy miles from France near the foot of German Wine Road. They stopped in three different Christmas markets where they sampled the delicious chocolate and goodies. The two couples stayed in a winery built in 1816.
From Mussbach they to Spier, a village built in 1753. Wayne showed the group the Cathedral on the Rhine where they listened to a wonderful organ concert. Next stop for the Parzyck's and Coffman's was in Rothenberg Ob'der Tauber. They were amongst tourists from several different countries touring the Renaissance Wall City.
The couples were three miles from the Czech Republic when they stayed in Sciffen. While Lynn and Evelyn shopped in the Christmas stores, Wayne and Chester visited a friend of Wayne's. In Dresden they visited palaces, the Semper Opera House and several china shops.
While in Cologne, the group visited the tombs of the three wise men and the wall of the original church, which was built in 58 AD. The trip; across Germany covered 2300 kilometers. Chester and Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed their first trip to German, thanks to Wayne and Lynn.
I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas with your family and loved ones.
Until next week, take care, be safe and give someone a hug! Have a great week!
