| Curran Events Howdy ya’ll, I hope all of you had safe and Happy Holidays and that all of us may prosper in this new year! I’m going to start this new year with one of my famous non-political, non-partisan, my opinion only and sure to make someone mad articles. First I would like to comment on two recent articles in this newspaper. To Jason Mazoch: I applaud your willingness to state your views with regard to our nation’s President and his actions or non-actions. As I read your article I couldn’t help but be reminded of myself at that age (19-20 yrs) and I know that I was confused and certainly did not understand many issues of the day. It set the stage for me and helped guide me to present day. As I read your piece I noticed that you are struggling with liberal politics and conservative politics, you made two comments of note- "The struggling economy may not be Bush’s fault" and "President Bush is following in his father’s steps right into not getting re-elected". Lets go at these statements this way- First, if you were President and some nation or radical group attacked us, where would your priorities be? Second, if you will purge our history you should be able to realize that the President doesn’t get DO-OVERS, he must re-act to the best of his ability! Another thing you need to realize is that campaign strategies are made from conditions at hand, when a Gulf War or a Terrorist War comes about, directions must change. Our President is first and foremost a "Human Being" and do you honestly think that he would knowingly make a decision that would hurt the American people? There comes a time in all of our lives when belt tightening is the order of the day. Behind every good man is a good woman but, behind every good President is a Congress! The answer to our country’s dilemma is not simple and really NO President will ever be able to correct all wrongs and I definitely feel we are in better hands with President Bush at the helm rather than AlGore! Last but not least, when you write, try your best to get your facts right, we all make mistakes but Colin Powell was not George Bush senior’s secretary of state--Good luck in your studies. Jason’s article leads into the other article I wish to comment on, that being Bob Jackson’s article reprinted with his permission, and thanks to my fellow journalist and friend Doc Fennessy for bringing it to us. In case our readers missed it, the article appeared in the December 19th, 2001 issue of MCN and was right below Bobby’s Big Santa, that’s probably going to be the next icon attacked by "Do-Gooders". Mr Jackson’s article hit home with me and in it were some excellent points of interest. "God Bless America" "In God We Trust" "The National Anthem" and "The Flag" are cornerstones of our country and to now see some groups wanting all this removed from our public institutions because it offends some other culture is a "slap in the face of this country!!!" I like Mr. Jackson am not against immigration, as long as those that are coming here are coming to seek a better life for themselves and their families. To those who have alternative plans, like spying on us so that some other nation (s) can try and destroy us or to those who want to force their culture on us--"Bull______!" ya’ll need to take the "Next Train to Clarksville" because like Mr. Jackson, I’m sick and tired of us having to change because of some "Liberal" ya-hoo thinking we are going to hurt someone’s feelings!!!!! It’s time to "Take A Stand". To quote Mr. Jackson, "We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don’t care how you did things where you came from." I like many of you have been to some foreign countries and I can tell you this-- If you are going to live and survive in them you’d better learn their language, respect their ways and you better not try to force your ways, language or culture on them, because if you do, your leaving or worse yet, going to jail! Don’t believe me? Just ask the two young girls who were imprisoned for trying to minister to people in Afghanistan. Folks we need a good dose of reality because to give, give, give, will only lead to take, take, take! I could go on and on about unfairness that has been mandated in this country by the "Do-Gooders" and do any of you think that leaders like Rev. Jesse Jackson, Ted Kennedy or AlGore would have been successful if they had not "championed" their give give politics! It "Galls my Innerds" to think that my son has to score higher on his SAT Test than other "less fortunate, poor, poor pitiful me groups" because our Government thinks its the only fair way for them to get an education. Besides if some of them think they have been mis-treated then read about the plight of the Irish immigrants )my family being of Irish descent) when they first came to America! Bi-Partisan Politics, Bi-Partisan Politics- Never work, Never work. This country was formed to be the "Home of the Brave". Until next time from Montgomery’s Sagebrush Philosopher, Stay home, live on welfare, draw unemployment and get as many Government Entitlements as you can, it will build a stronger nation! Adios |
