Who We Are

Howdy Ya’ll, Hope all is well and that everyone had a good Thanksgiving. All of us should give thanks to those who couldn’t be with their families because they are away serving our country and we all should have taken time from our extremely busy schedule to reflect back on the events of 09-11-01. There are many families that had to spend Thanksgiving without their loved ones because of this National tragedy. During the remainder of the Holiday Season I think we should all remain alert and pray that our country remains strong.

Best Wishes go out to Brother Joel Wilson, Pastor of Honea Baptist Church he is at home recovering from a badly broken arm. Brother Joel was decorating a Christmas tree and fell and all of his church family pray that he not need surgery to repair the break. Hang in there Brother Joel- Go Tennessee!

Now it’s time for me to pick on an old friend, yep, this person is a bona-fide Montgomery "Bidd-Ness" person and is known by many in the community around the country, all over Texas and the world. Its none other than the great "Can’t Believe She Doesn’t Have a Talk Show"- BEA ROUSE! If you’re like me every time you see her she has that cell-phone stuck to her ear and carrying on two other conversations with those standing by to see her. Of course when your married to the "Major" stockholder of GTE Mobile Net you must be able to get unlimited air time. She is the only person I know that when she needs operator assistance they know her by her first name! Hey Bea, why don’t you get a "Head Set" that way you could walk around like you’re in concert--oh to be that important. Last week I stopped by the "Old Cotton Gin" to see her but Cotton (that’s her better half) said she was in a meeting and to try later--yeah right. So I go back by 4 hours later and she’s still "rattling" ninety miles per hour to the same unfortunate souls! Cotton was asleep in a swing and Charlie Stowe closed early because of all the racket! One more thing, if you happen to see her driving down SH 105, be aware. Last month she was going Westbound on the Eastbound should with that phone stuck to her ear--six DPS units were behind her and I understand that the roadblock couldn’t stop her! Bea was able to tell me a story about our artist friend Dirk Peterson, although it took her several hours to do so. Dirk and one of his roping buddies entered a barrel racing event, yep that’s right a barrel racing event, but that’s not all. Now as Paul Harvey would say--Here’s the rest of the story:

Seem as though Dirk had not been winning too much at roping and was in need of some additional cash. After he checked on the rules and found there was nothing written preventing men from entering a traditional women’s event the rope-less ropers entered the figure-eight "Cowgirl" competition. Now to just say they did good would not be the proper ending-NO, seems as though Dirk and his Pard came in first and second took home the "pay-o-la" but was Dirk in for a surprise when his wife told him "Thanks". By winning Dirk out her out of the Texas Finals! Way to go Tall Guy!

Congratulations to Joe Cartwright, he coached his team to a win last Tuesday night at the YMCA All-Star Superbowl held at Bear Stadium. Way to go guys! Thanks also to B.R.’s mom for her kind words. Hey Dr. Warren, out at Lake Conroe Medical Clinic- I’m doing fine after the "Cowboy" and "Copperhead" match. Thanks for your expert care.

Wonder what "Dreamboat Annie" is up to these days? Understand Coach Shiflett is going to be a little folder this winter.

From Montgomery’s Sagebrush Philosopher. Until next time. Good Cow Call’n. Good Frog Gigg’n and Go Ags!

Adios
