Hey ya’ll, who’s finished their Christmas shopping? If you listen to the news nobody’s doing any shopping, but if you’ve tried to go anywhere lately it’s Traffic, Traffic, Traffic! Myself, Jerri Sue, James and Carol Langley decided to take in a play Friday night. As James stated "I’m durn shore glad we did this!" The play was Charles Dickens’ "A Christmas Carole" and it was put on by a fine group of actors and actresses from the Montgomery Junior High School. Mrs. Storseth should be commended for her excellent work and did an exceptional job directing and co-ordinating the players. As you entered, you were entertained by the MJH Symphonic Orchestra and then walked into a scene straight out of "Olde England"! Sarah May and Laura Lemke served as narrators and set the stage by explaining each scene. I’m not sure who taught this bunch of thespians their English accents, but they all sounded great! Shane Schurr played the part of the "persnickedy tightwad" Ebenezer Scrooge and gets my nod as the Best Actor. The young man did a flawless job--Congratulations Shane. The part of Fred was played by another talented young man, Jace Langley. Bob Cratchit was played by the equally talented Owon Sturman. The Ghost of Christmas Past was portrayed by Ms. Bonnie Butler’s granddaughter Emily Wilson and the character of Christmas Present was Austin Murddock. The house was packed with theater goers and coffee, soft drinks and goodies were there for all’s enjoyment. Throughout the evening a fine group of singers performed Christmas Carol’s and the whole event just turned out to be an enjoyable evening. Thanks to all who had parts in the play and each and everyone of you should be proud of yourselves. Thanks again Mrs. Storseth, its great to know that with all of the negative things going on in this world, we as parents, have wonderful teachers like yourself molding our youngsters into young men and women.

I also had a chance to visit with Blake and Paula Cogdell and I can’t wait to visit with Blake in his new office!

Montgomery is beginning to take on the look of Christmas and I know all citizens are working hard on decorating their homes for the annual Historic Candlelight Home Tour and Cookie Walk. Good luck to all those who volunteer and to those who open their historic homes for everyone’s enjoyment. Good luck to the parade organizers and best wishes for a good turn out.

Let’s talk a little football before we end this week’s article. Not sure yet where the Aggies are going "Bowling" and look out for some unusual match-ups after the upsets of last Saturday, but one thing for sure, wherever the "Teasips" go, Major Applewhite should get the nod as starting QB for the Horn’s, because he sure outplayed the kid whose Dad bought his son’s way onto the team an because Dad was an NFL QB, Texas Coach Mack Brown probably was influenced into benching Applewhite for Sims! If Applewhite had not played the second half I think Colorado would have "Whupped-Butt" but because of "Majors" cool, the game was close. Hey Houston! Don’t count Applewhite out as a legitimate "pro" prospect just because he got cheated out of his senior year! Politics. Politics it’s affecting everything.

From "Montgomery’s Sagebrush Philosopher". Until next time. Good Cow Call’n. Good Frog Gigg’n and Go Ags!

Adios
