Hey Ya’ll, little different subject matter this week, but before I get started I’d like to wish all the youth of this area that will be participating in this year’s Montgomery County Fair a big GOOD LUCK!!!! As many of you know the MCFA gives out a number of scholarships each year to the youth of Montgomery County. So even if you don’t have a youth showing at the fair then at least go out and enjoy the fun. The Fair & Rodeo starts this Friday, March 15th and runs thru Sunday March 24th. See ya’ll there!

Now as I stated my subject matter will be a little different but the cause is great and I feel it newsworthy to our area. Since September 11, 2001 our nation has been involved in a crisis of epic proportion but it also has served to bring about togetherness that this country has not had in some time. That horrible day has sent many people on a mission, the mission of seeking comfort by attending a church of their choice. Our area is fortunate in that it has many fine churches, churches that have been established for some time and some new places of worship. Some of the newer churches are offering a more casual atmosphere and a less denominationally structured worship or as some refer to them a non-denominational worship service. Some in this area that are drawing large numbers include the Montgomery Cowboy Fellowship, The Ark and one in The Woodlands called Fellowship of The Woodlands. Each offers a more contemporary approach to worship but all teach the same message. Make Jesus Christ a part of your life. I’m proud to be associated with the start-up of a new fellowship to be known as The Church of Lake Conroe and it will be pastored by Brother Joel Wilson. Its temporary location is located on SH 105 across from the entrance to April Sound in the space that was formally used as a Teen Club. The Church plans on having things in place soon and is looking forward to an Easter Service for all to enjoy. Joel and his family have been in our area for several years and this is a vision that he has had for some time. Joel mixes old fashioned values with contemporary lifestyles and has a strong belief in bringing back strong moral fibre to our community. He is especially sensitive to the needs of our youth and feels much like I do, our youth is our future and without the teachings of God we are heading to greater moral decay than we are already experiencing. If you have been thinking about getting involved and would like to be a part of something new, then The Church of Lake Conroe may be for you.

My family and I pray for Joel’s success and as a sinner myself I thank Joel for all that he has meant to me these past years. I can promise all of you that read my article regularly that my choice to worship has totally turned me around. Yes, I’ve burned some bridges and have not always been honest but Joel Wilson is the type of preacher that can help you turn your life around if you will let him.

Our country was founded by those who were getting away from religious persecution and the saying IN GOD WE TRUST is still the majority belief if you don’t believe me then visit a church of your choice and find out. God Bless.

The next couple of weeks I’ll be busy at the Fair serving on committees and helping make the Fair a success and I will be keeping you posted--"Hey Bobby! Hold down the fort!"
