Hey Ya’ll, the Fair is over for 2002! Now I can get back to some normalcy like remembering to turn my article in so that it can be read by all. This year’s fair was a huge success with the good weather we all enjoyed. Stuart Taylor and I have been talking and though unofficiated at this writing it is though that the attendance was up, the carnival had record numbers, the sales in livestock, non-livestock and commercial heifers sales all had record years. The Montgomery County Fair should be congratulated for the effort put forth for the youth of our county. A special thanks should go to Mr. Johnny Causey, the President of the MCFA, Johnny did a great job and his first year as President was a great success. I personally know Johnny and I look for some positive changes to be made for next year’s fair. I encourage all of you who attended to drop him a Thank You note of confidence. Johnny watches, listens and is a staunch supporter of our youth, therefore our Fair can do nothing but grow under his leadership. A huge WAY TO GO should go out to the youth of the Montgomery area, all the exhibitors, 4-H leaders, FFA and Junior FFA leaders did an outstanding job representing our area! A I went from location to location at the Fair I often heard the name Montgomery being mentioned over the public address system. Our area was well known by the time the Fair concluded and many of our youth placed high in their perspective categories. Once again I remind all of you that wealth of adult leadership. Thanks to all of you.

Now on to other matters at hand, first, Pat down at the Diamond Shamrock in Montgomery ask that I tell all of you that the employee’s are not responsible for the gas prices. She informed me that Diamond Shamrock upper management are the culprits! She’s right, the oil industry is noted for "robbing the poor" and making their executives "Filthy Rich". More on this in a later article.

Hey can Ya’ll believe Shelly Lane turned 30! Boy, that sure makes me feel old! Did Ya’ll know that we have a new weatherman in our area? Yep, none other than Geral Fauss! You see Geral came into to Kings Cafe a couple of weeks back wearing shorts on a cool day and he took a lot of "ribbing" from the patrons, but he stood fast on his conviction. Geral said he was tired of the cold and rainy weather and he was going to wear shorts until the weather changed. BY GUM our weather had been great since, Susan cut all of the legs off Gerals jeans!

Ask Bea Rouse about the solicitation of funds she got out at the Fair. Thanks to Ann Hoffman of Subway for her help and entertainment. I could have made Bob Peel spend a "tab" more money but my Bump Up the Bid Crew got nervous on me. Thanks to Tommy and Sharon Imhoff, Randy Roan, Tommy Curley, Kenneth Akins, Stuart Taylor and many others for their donations at the Fair. Special thanks to the West Montgomery County Support Group they always make our Fair a success. Thanks to Lanny Moriarty for his help. I’m sure I’ve left some folks off the list but remind me when ya’ll see me and I’ll sure and thank them along the way! Like D.J. and Paige Nelson, almost an OOPS! ook for a SHARP person’s name to be showcased in June--she’s having a special birthday!

From Montgomery’s Sagebrush Philosopher, Until next time. Good Cow Call’n. Good Frog Gigg’n and Go Ags.
