| Curran Events Hey Ya’ll Well how’s summer going so far? Hope all of you are having a good time and a safe one. If any of you have been out on SH 105 Autoban or the Montgomery to Conroe International Speedway lately you know that school’s out for the summer. What summer, MISD goes back on August 12th. Do any of you remember June 1st to after Labor Day? In case you’ve not been in town recently the face of Montgomery is sure changing, but I’ve got some questions. Who will be responsible for putting the curb stops back in place on a daily basis? Don’t get me wrong I think the new sidewalks are nice and will surely help when special events are going on but late night antics will wreak havoc on those concrete stops. My second question is in regard to the street’s width, two vehicles side by side with a space between them usually around 12 feet or better depending on the two vehicles. I stopped the other day, the location I’ll not reveal and found the street width to be only over a little 10 feet. Now here’s the question. What if two vehicle side by side swipe each other because the street was not wide enough to pass each other safely, then who will be at fault? Did the City of Montgomery study this? Is the MPD aware of the width situation? Now, on a positive note perhaps this situation can control speed on the streets. I’m all for beautification projects, look what has been done in the Houston Heights area, but I sure would hate to see the City of Montgomery involved in a lawsuit that some slick shark-kin suited attorney bring against them. Do any of you know the formula for establishing speed limits on City, County and State roadways? I’ll give the answer next week in the meantime quiz your city officials. In the coming weeks I plan on sharing some interesting stories with ya’ll about some characters I think you will enjoy. One of those will be about Cowboy "Poetry" who can call themselves Cowboy Poets, what do real working cowboys think of this new found way of expression. Just a hint, if tomorrow’s "Space Poetry" became the Craze then I know some individuals who would make Tin-Foil suits and start calling themselves Space Poets. I also want to share a story about John Lomax without him we would not have "Home on the Range". From Montgomery’s Sagebrush Philosopher. Until next time Good Cow Call’n. Good Frog Gigg’n and Go Ags. Adios |
