| Curran Events Hey Ya’ll! Well vacation was great and I spent some interesting time reading and learning some tid-bits for my article. I also spent some time reflecting and thinking about my old "philosopher" friends Garry Curran and Pattie Campbell and I couldn’t help but wonder what they may think of all the "hoop-la" of today’s world. I think both of them would agree that it’s time America put her thinking cap back on, get back to basics and come up with a New-New Deal, and a positive Reconstruction! Folks, the fact of the matter is, its just not getting done by the present "powers that be" so what can be done about it? Now before any of you out there label me a "subversive" let me just say this first. I’m very concerned about the future of our nation, is she prepared and does she have a viable plan to deal with some of these new stumbling blocks that have been placed before her--IS She? My opinion is NO, she is not, but that is just my opinion and it comes from a man that is not wealthy (that’s by today’s standards, if I were to go to the bank to withdraw a large sum of money, say five dollars- it would be done at gunpoint)nor am I considered a scholar (remember a few years ago some astute, perfect person in our community stated that Brett doesn’t have the sharpest pencil in town) no I’m just a common man with some real concerns. It does not take a "Rocket Scientist" to see that we have a problem that needs fixing! Funny, recently I saw a news item about road problems the City of Houston were having and when questioned about repairing them, Houston’s esteemed Mayor commented the city will do a feasibility study on the matter--Huh? Folks, that’s what I’m talking about , like that old famous humorist Will Rogers, "If a nail needs driving then get the hammer and drive the dern thing" studying the need won’t fix the need. In our country today we now have a "Homeland Security Agency" or something like that, what happened to the FBI, the CIA, National Guard, etc, etc, isn’t that their function, protect the Homeland? Funding this new agency will surely make the price of bananas go up --huh? Why don’t we just close the gate mend our fences and get our pastures greener? Recently I spent a little time with my cardiologist and because he is a native of India I ask if he’d had any problems since 911. He commented that some rude remarks have been made but the greatest thing he said went something like this: "I came to America, became a citizen, studied the medical profession, became a doctor so that I could help all people and did not try to force my culture or religious beliefs or my language on anyone. No, my family learned America’s ways, her language and sought out places of worship in our manner and because of this I have been successful and its due to America being the greatest Nation in the world! As one of its citizens I recognize that America needs to stop worrying about hurting someone’s feeling but rather America needs to guard her shores and her borders, protect those that are here to better themselves and pay better attention to keeping out those that enter illegally, those that come here to carry out terror, those that want to change America’s culture and especially those that enter and take jobs from deserving Americans." What a statement from a person who has surely met with some adversity in his life. After I had got home and thought about his thoughts I realized he would never treat someone with Civil Liberties Union, Ted Kennedy or any other of these liberal thinkers that may have contributed to the undermining of our country. Sorry, if I hurt some of your feelings. Just a passing though; why have we as American’s allowed a government that is supposed to be "BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE" get away with giving in and removing some of the fundamental freedoms because it MAY hurt someone’s feelings! This Nation was founded UNDER GOD, I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE, PROTECT AND DEFEND THE LORD’S PRAYER its America not World dot com! If I am wrong then why do New Citizens still have to take an oath, a sworn oath to do all of the above? Why does Government open all sessions with prayer?
