In response to Mrs. Jenny Stewarts letter
This is in response to Mrs. Stewarts letter which contained several inaccurate comments. The City engineers asked TxDot if they needed to do a traffic study and were told it was not needed. Common sense tells you that several roads are better than one. At Mrs. Stewart's request the City sought advice from her recommended "planner" who basically supported everything being discussed. The attorney, also recommended by Mrs. Stewart, turned out to be very busy and after repeated attempts to get her input failed to produce a contribution, the agreement was scrutinized line by line, page by page in public under the expertise of our attorney, the City attorney and anyone else who wanted to give input. At that meeting, there were members of P&Z and City Council as well as members of the public at large. This document is readable on the montgomerytexas.com web site and even now months later when I look at it, it reads well for everyone. I do not have a problem with disagreement and welcome input to improve what we are doing. I do have a problem with people voting publicly in favor of what we are doing but privately doing everything they can to prevent it. The impression given to outsiders is that this is a divisive city. It isn't. Most people work together to iron out their differences and their competing views. Hopefully the result of this will be something we can all be proud of. Montgomery is a great place and it is a pity that some people give the impression that it is a center for "hypocrisy and back biting".
