In My Opinion...Not That You Asked
Quizzing the Kerry Crowd
from Scot Bauer, Montgomery, Texas
Recently, just for fun, I decided to ask a few 'Kerry supporters' exactly what it is about the Mighty FlipFlopper that they like.
Every answer I received was almost identical, so I will combine the responses into one.
When asked directly "What do you like about John Kerry?", the instant answer was a venom filled, spewing, sputtering, antiBushathon speech with all the cliques of 'Bush is a liar', 'Bush causes global warming', 'Bush is the antiChrist,' and so on.
I was not surprised by the answer since it's the same one all the other Kerry 'supporters' give on TV. Unfortunately, it didn't address the question, so I was forced to ask again.
"That's great! So what do you like about John Kerry?"
For this one, I got a blank stare in return. After a moment, there was a vague "I like his economic policy."
"What, specifically, do you like about his economic policy?" The blank stare returned.
After a pause, a very quiet, "He's going to create 10 millions jobs." The supporter had a slightly distant look in his eyes.
"How?" I couldn't resist!
The final blank stare. The conversation ended abruptly.
That's the problem with the "I love John Kerry crowd." They have tons of reasons for hating George Bush, but can't tell you why they like Kerry. Just because you don't do chocolate doesn't mean strawberry is automatically to your liking.
In case you were wondering, the technique for creating jobs is by allowing tax breaks for businesses. This gives them more money to expand and hire more employees. It isn't rocket science. Kerry's plan is to raise taxes, and then somehow sweet talk business into expanding. Sorry, but it just doesn't happen like that.
Personally, I don't dislike John Kerry. I don't dislike him because I can't figure out what he stands for, and how can I have animosity for the unknown? John Kerry has adapted the ultimate political position: tell EVERYBODY what they want to hear, and you'll go far. It carried him through 20 years in the Senate.
But how can a man claim to be 'Presidential material' if he can't take a position on anything? A question we should all ask before people jump so easily onto the "I hate Bush" bandwagon.
