EDITORIAL COMMENTARY
Wednesday, September 29, 2004
To the staff of Montgomery County News.
Regarding, Old Bear Bend, Rabon Chapel Area
I would like first off to express my gratitude to the staff for the terrific job your personnel has performed in preserving the history of Montgomery, County, Texas.
Thanks to your hard work of staff and writers I have recently discovered my early ancestors of old Bear Bend, now present Rabon Chapel community and Montgomery, Texas. I being a direct descendant of Thomas Peter Cartwright Jr. and Elizabeth Shaw Cartwright, Circa 1838.
I being born and raised most of my life in Conroe, Texas and surrounding area. As A young boy growing up, and being raised by my maternal grandmother and step grandpa, I had the wonderful experience of being around the older generation and learning experience of how life was in the older days of Montgomery County. Also learning and recording some wonderful family tradition stories of yesteryear in my mind.
Two ladies of your staff , I would like to thank are Regina Ducharme and Sissy Boulware for writing and publishing the Article " A Tragic Affair of Old Montgomery"
Most of my family, mother and dad's sides were raised around Copeland Chapel, Shiloh, Honea, Keenan, Rabon Chapel, and Montgomery areas.
I have special interest in the Rabon Chapel area, or "Old Bear Bend" area.
I was wondering if there was any information are a story about this area.
Thanks again to a great staff and keep up the good work of preserving all of our family heritage and history of Montgomery County and the Great State of Texas.
