EDITORIAL COMMENTARY
Wednesday, November 3, 2004
I wanted to voice my opinion in support of the Lone Star Cowboy Church's use of their arena.
As most of you know I raised my family as a single dad, and have often stated that the people of Montgomery put their arms around my children, supported them while they were in school, and helped teach them real values. I will be forever grateful for many of the great teachers and leaders of our community. They are all now successful adults in their own careers.
The Lone Star Cowboy Church's ministry is now an extra extension of "Montgomery's" attitude towards helping others and has made a huge impact on so many people. I would hope the City Fathers would lend their support to the fellowship and it's ministry.
Our community is growing and growth is both necessary and inevitable. Change is always hard and I respect that we will always undergo growing pains. But, many of our roots are in small towns, farms, ranches, small churches, FFA, 4H, Rodeo's, County Fairs, Horse Shows, Live Stock Shows, Tractor pulling contests, etc.), and I appreciate the values many of us learned as children and young adults. These values are being taught at the Arena and at this Church.
Of course with these events noise and other types of sounds, odors, dust, trucks and trailers are part of the package, as is High School Band, Football, Baseball, and other events.
Eventually we will be inside a church building and as the fellowship grows hopefully an indoor arena will someday be built. To restrict the growth of the fellowship by restricting noise, times for events to be held and the number of events will only slow down the growth of the fellowship and the time frame when the building and arena can be built.
Sorry for such a long letter.
Thank you,
