World famous plumber confesses at Conroe tea party
|
Over 1000 turn out for the hottest tea party ever
July 3, 2009
The Woodlands-North Houston Independence Day Tea Party at the Lone Star Convention Center drew a huge crowd despite extreme heat, traffic jams, and holiday schedules.
The latest tax protest saw many of the usual local players, in addition to a nationally known figure that has become the Republican Party’s symbol of the working man, or the “average Joe.” “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher, to be more precise, was one of the event’s featured speakers, along with Houston business icon, Jim “Mattress Mac” McIngvale.

By now, everyone who was not in a coma knows the story of the chance encounter between Wurzelbacher and then presidential candidate Barack Obama. What people might be surprised to learn is that Wurzelbacher stepped out of his life of blue-collar obscurity and into the national spotlight because of a lousy performance by his favorite football team.
“Quite frankly, me and my boy toss the football, all through summertime, wintertime, but it was football season and the Jets were beating my Bengals, and we just didn’t want to watch them get beat again,” Wurzelbacher said. “So me and my son went outside a little bit earlier than usual, and that’s the whole reason I even got to ask that question of Barack Obama.”
Wurzelbacher had no idea Obama would be in his neighborhood when he took his son and their football outside.
“Had the Bengals been winning, I’d have been sitting in there rooting on my team and wouldn’t have even known that Barack Obama had been in the neighborhood,” he said. “I think it’s interesting how things work out.”
While the circumstances of that chance meeting may support Wurzelbacher’s media and politically created public image, the facts are somewhat contradictory to that, as Wurzelbacher has not spent his life with a sack lunch in one hand and a pipe wrench in the other.
Wurzelbacher taught plumbing in US Air Force, and then became a communications engineer, designing networks all over the world. He said it was not having time for his young son that caused Wurzelbacher to give up his global communications work and return to the plumbing business and a simpler life.
The self-proclaimed “regular guy” has plenty to say behind the mic or one-on-one about the direction he believes his country is headed. Wurzelbacher said Friday the government is running “without any kind of checks,” and that Americans need to remember that elected officials work for them and can be replaced.
He said the current tax crisis has brought together the left and the right, despite what is seen on the evening news.
“Mainstream media doesn’t want to cover (the unity of the parties) for some reason, but they are coming,” Wurzelbacher said. “From bikers to Wall Street tycoon type people wearing three piece suits, they’re all together and all coming here, all of them just tired of the government sticking their hand in our back pockets whenever they want to.”
Wurzelbacher is pushing the fair tax plan, but also likes the idea of the flat tax system.
“That’s the answer- These bailouts makes no sense, spending yourself out of debt,” he said, “If we could do it, we’d have millions of Americans doing it.”
“It’s wrong, the constitution doesn’t allow for this.”
Wurzelbacher said the elected officials who are ignoring the constitution plan to succeed by telling the American public it is for their own good, when they are actually doing it for selfish reasons.
He is concerned with more than taxes, and also has strong views on immigration.
“I believe we need to spend a little more on illegal immigrants get them the (expletive) out of our (expletive) country, and close the borders down,” Wurzelbacher said. “We can do it.”
“We’ve got the greatest military in the world and you’re telling me we can’t close our borders- that’s just ridiculous.”
Pearl Harbor survivor Robert Chamberlain attended the Tea Party and also supports simplifying the tax system.
“I figure we’ll save billions of dollars for the tax payers, for one thing and I think it would increase the revenue coming in,” Chamberlain said. “I understand it’s done that in other countries, and it would make it very simple for tax payers to figure out and send in their taxes without paying out a lot to CPAs.”
Another local protestor, Mark Laird of Spring, called the anti-tax movement a “snowball” that should continue to increase in size.
“People need to wake up while we’ve got time to do it,” Laird said. “(People) just have to pay attention, and it’ll get bigger, this snowball’s coming.”
Laird is concerned that those in power want to turn the US into a sort of “Western Europe.”
“Most western Europeans, if they get a chance, they want to come here,” he said. “American ideals is what draws people.”
Terry Ansley, who was also at the tea party to support the anti-tax cause, said it was too bad our government is not handled like our children, with consequences for wrongdoing.
“What a shame our children’s future is at stake and we’re playing games with money,” Ansley said.” They need to learn to balance their budget because they expect us to balance our budgets.”
“I’m an American and I’m proud to be an American,” she said. “But I’ve been very disappointed in our government because they’re treating us like we’re children and that we’re stupid.”
The audience was a sea of waving homemade signs and waving fans made up of anything available, as attendees tried to beat the intense heat in the arena where there is no air conditioning.
Similar events are scheduled throughout the weekend all across the US.

Did you ever wonder where the money for things like the subversion of the world's immigration laws may come from?
It seems to me as long as we allow people to print up fiat money there will be no place in the world where freedom can flourish.

If the Globalist oppose your efforts, paid for with real hard earned money, all they have to do is fire up the presses and shovel the money to any group that will oppose you.
Not only that but it seems they do it in such a way that the money to achieve THEIR goals is borrowed from them. Then we pay interest to a group outside of our country, like the Federal Reserve, on the creation and borrowing of OUR OWN money.
